Suffolk County Officer Injured When Vehicle Struck During Stop

A Suffolk County Police officer was injured when his patrol unit was struck by another vehicle in Cold Spring Harbor.

The incident took place around 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, during a traffic stop on Main Street, said the Suffolk County Police.

According to detectives, the officer was in his vehicle, with the emergency lights on at the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Main Street when his vehicle was struck by a 2009 Kia.

The officer, the Kia driver and a passenger in the Kia, were all taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
